Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, says there will be no progress in solving the conflict in Sudan, unless external actors are addressed. “We all understand that what is happening in Sudan would not be possible without external actors”. Rubio also said that the United States was “actively engaged” in the settlement process.
NEW YORK SEPTEMBER 29: The US Secretary of State says there will be no progress in solving the conflict in Sudan, unless external actors are addressed. Marco Rubio blamed outside powers for fuelling the conflict.
“I’ll be blunt: we all understand that what is happening in Sudan would not be possible without external actors supporting one side or the other. And this is becoming increasingly frustrating,
Rubio declined to name specific countries, stressing that “everyone knows” who they are, and called on external actors to put pressure on their proxy forces operating in the region.
Rubio also said that the United States was “actively engaged” in the settlement process and that the immediate priority was to open humanitarian corridors
