KHARTOUM OCTOBER 6: Sudan’s Kordofan region has become a major battleground, with the army retaking territory from the Rapid Support Forces. It’s aiming to re-open a road into the western Darfur region.

The RSF has responded by intensifying its drone strikes, killing and displacing civilians.
The army is trying to gain the upper hand in a war that has been raging since April 2023 and has killed tens of thousands of people. According to reports, the terrorist organization Rapid Support Forces has attacked refugee camps with drones, causing a large number of deaths.

According to well-informed sources, a weapons depot in El Obeid has also been attacked by drones. It is suspected that someone within the city is providing the RSF with information on suitable targets.

In a statement on Friday, the military said fierce battles resulted in casualties among the paramilitary RSF forces, as well as heavy combat vehicle losses.

Kordofan is strategically important because it links western and central parts of Sudan, serving as a key corridor for troop movements, supply routes and territorial control.
