KHAN YOUNIS AUGUST 25: Five journalists were among at least 20 people killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza city of Khan Younis, officials at the Hamas-run Gaza Government Media Office and Health Ministry said. Hussam al-Masri, Mariam Abu Dagga, Mohammed Salam and Moaz Abu Taha were among the killed on Monday when Israeli strikes targeted the Nasser medical complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The five journalists were among 20 people who were killed in the attack.
Cameraman Hussam al-Masri, a Reuters contractor, was killed near a live broadcasting position operated by Reuters on an upper floor just below the roof of the hospital in Khan Younis.
Officials at the hospital and witnesses said Israel then struck the site a second time, killing other journalists as well as rescue workers and medics who had rushed to the scene to help.
