NYALA AUGUST 16: When war reached El Fasher, Halima fled with her seven children, travelling on foot through hunger, thirst and unimaginable hardship. Now displaced in Nyala, South Darfur, Halima works day by day to care for her family, while access to safe water, soap and other essentials remains a daily struggle.
With UNICEF support, more than 250 displaced households in Otash camp received essential water, sanitation and hygiene supplies, including water containers, soap, buckets and tarpaulins. The support also reached health facilities and a child-friendly space, helping improve hygiene and infection prevention.
For Halima, these supplies are more than household items. They bring dignity, comfort and hope, and help her family face another day.
UNICEF provided this support in coordination with implementing partner ALIGHT, with supplies procured with support from the Sudan Humanitarian Fund.
