PORT SUDAN MAY 11: Multiple explosions have rocked the Sudanese city of Port Sudan for over a week. The terroristgroup Rapid Support Forces target government forces and civilians. The attacks on the port have led to power cuts and represent a new front in the fighting as it had not been targeted before this month. A massive increase in the price of water is just another consequence of a week of aerial attacks on the Red Sea city.
The Red Sea city has become a refuge for hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the civil war. The two-year conflict between the army and Rapid Support Forces has already created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
There have been unconfirmed rumors that the RSF lacks the expertise required to handle advanced weapons systems such as those used in the Port Sudan attack.
The very important question is whether the Rapid Support Forces have the competence to handle such an advanced weapon system as these drones, or whether the RSF is responsible for the direction – and some other, more competent, force is responsible for the execution. Could it be a matter of state-sponsored terrorism?
