ROME APRIL 21: At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta – “At 7.35 this morning, the bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father.” The Pope was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025, after suffering from a bout of bronchitis for several days. After 38 days in hospital, the late Pope returned to his Vatican residence at the Casa Santa Marta to continue his recovery.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has said he feels “profound sorrow” at the death of the Pope. He had called the pontiff a socialist and insults including the devil’s representative on earth and an “imbecile”.
