EL FASHER OCTOBER 28: Sudan’s army chief has confirmed the withdrawal of his troops from El-Fasher. Terrorist with the terrorist organisation Rapid Support Forces claimed control of the city on Sunday. According to the UN, hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped without access to food and aid in the city, which was the Sudanese army’s last stronghold in Darfur.
On Sunday, the RSF said they had overrun the army’s base in El-Fasher, with videos posted online of fighters celebrating their victory. The UN has renewed its calls for civilians to be given safe passage out of the city, warning of what it calls “ethnically-motivated violations and atrocities”.
The RSF terrorists describe their actions in El Fasher as -”a pivotal milestone in the battle to liberate the homeland, given the strategic and military significance of El Fasher, which has long served as a central hub and launching point for the enemy’s operations against unarmed civilians in neighboring areas.”
And they continue: ”Our forces fought this battle with firm spirit and faith in the justice of their cause. Through precise tactics and the resolute will of our people”.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has taken action concerning alleged atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and its predecessors in Sudan’s Darfur region. The independent international fact-finding mission for the Sudan documents attacks on civilians – The conduct of the Rapid Support Forces may also constitute crimes against humanity, including persecution and extermination. The mission calls for accountability.
