See Trump’s Free Speech Failure

President Donald Trump dismissed claims that the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was an attack on free speech. “They should have fired him a long time ago, so you know, you can call that free speech or not. He was fired for lack of talent,” he added. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is the second longest-running late night talk show, by host, on any network surpassed only by The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

HOLLYWOOD SEPTEMBR 19: President Donald Trump dismissed claims that the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was an attack on free speech, saying it’s due to a “lack of talent”.

“Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings more than anything else, and he said a horrible thing about a great gentleman known as Charlie Kirk,” Trump said.

“They should have fired him a long time ago, so you know, you can call that free speech or not. He was fired for lack of talent,” he added.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is produced by 12:05 AM Productions, LLC, in association with Kimmelot and 20th Television. It holds the title as the longest running late-night talk show on the network, having aired for more than three times as long as either The Dick Cavett Show (1969–1975) or Politically Incorrect (1997–2002). It is the second longest-running late night talk show, by host, on any network surpassed only by The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

During his recent monologues, Kimmel made comments surrounding Kirk’s killing and reactions to it.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said in his monologue on Monday.

ABC announced Wednesday that Kimmel’s show is suspended indefinitely after Nextstar Communications Group, which operates about two dozen ABC-affiliated stations, criticized Kimmel for his comments on the killing of Charlie Kirk and said it would not air the show.

The move also came hours after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called Kimmel’s comments “truly sick” and said his agency could “take action” against Disney and ABC.
